چکیده

Antimicrobial resistance has emerged as a major danger to contemporary medicine around the world. Carbapenems are highest class of B-lactam drugs which considered most effective and safest antibiotics available. Increasing spread carbapenemases been noted across world restricts treatment options. The aim this study was determine incidence carbapenem resistant genotypic pathways in tertiary care hospital. 130 clinical strains Enterobacteriaceae were subjected Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion tests methods (PCR) for identification genes NDM, VIM, OXA-48. Carbapenem detected 30% isolates by phenotypic methods. These 37 on being subject PCR showed OXA-48 followed VIM NDM frequently isolated genotypes. All had multiple encoding resistance. Carbapenemases is rise associated with multi drug pattern. To minimize initiate early appropriate therapy, detection essential. Molecular remain gold standard detection.

Molecular characterization of nosocomial CTX-M type beta-lactamase producing Enterobacteriaceae from a tertiary care hospital in south India.

CTX-M group of extended spectrum beta lactamases (ESBLs) represents a rapidly emerging problem in many countries. The prevalence of nosocomial bla CTX-M-1 producing Enterobacteriaceae strains has not been reported earlier in Indian hospitals. This study describes molecular subtyping of nosocomial bla CTX-M producing strains of Enterobacteriaceae . Polymerase chain reaction with primers specific...

Detection of Enterobacteriaceae producing CTX-M extended spectrum beta-lactamases from a tertiary care hospital in south India.

A total of 23 clinical isolates (15 Escherichia coli and 8 Klebsiella pneumoniae), resistant to cefotaxime and ceftazidime recovered during 2002 and 2003, were investigated for production of CTX-M extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) by phenotypic and molecular methods. The presence of ESBL was tested by NCCLS phenotypic confirmatory test using cephalosporin/clavulanate combination discs and...

Prevalence and Haemolytic Significance of Red Cell Antibodies among Dangerous Universal Donors in a Tertiary Care Hospital in South India

Background and Aims: A subgroup of group O individuals called ‘dangerous universal donors’ have immune (IgG) anti A and anti B antibodies which are active at 37˚C and capable of reacting with the red cells and causing lysis. The aim of this study was to find the prevalence of dangerous O group among the voluntary donor population and to assess the relation between the degree of haemolysis and t...

Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae.

Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) were almost nonexistent up to the 1990s, but are today encountered routinely in hospitals and other healthcare facilities in many countries including the United States. KPC-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae was the first to emerge and spread globally and is endemic in the United States, Israel, Greece, and Italy. Recently, NDM-producing Enterobacte...
